Player profile & competitive context
Alex Ruiz gave Toronto a men’s podium at each of the first two PPL events of 2026. With Mario Huete Hernandez, he reached the New York championship match before a 10–8 deciding match tiebreak went DC’s way. In Los Angeles the same partnership recovered from losing the opening set to beat DC 3–6, 6–3, 10–5 for third place. Those scoreboards establish a sustained league partnership rather than a pairing inferred from the roster.
The federation lists the Málaga-born right-side player as Alejandro Ruiz. Its 2026 Premier Padel table records 15 wins and 17 losses from 32 matches, a different competition and sample from his six verified PPL appearances. Recent international entries include quarterfinal finishes at Perugia Gold and São João da Madeira Silver. The October 5 world-ranking snapshot places him at No. 23; that individual ranking does not determine Toronto’s league position.
