PPL New York 2026: Results & Tournament Recap
DC Matrix and San Diego Stingrays left Hammerstein Ballroom with the first main PPL titles of 2026. Iñigo Jofre Manzanares and Alejandro “Alex” Arroyo beat Toronto’s Mario Huete Hernández and Alex Ruiz 6–4, 4–6, [10–8] in the men’s final. Verónica Virseda and Claudia Jensen recovered against Florida’s Noa Cánovas and Carolina Orsi to win the women’s final 1–6, 6–3, [10–7]. Both titles required match tiebreaks. New York’s men and Los Angeles’ women finished third, while the separate PPL II competition produced titles for the Atlantics’ men and Miami’s women. The four-day opener established the season’s first benchmark, with the next stop scheduled for Los Angeles in August.

Men’s final: DC survives Toronto’s response
Championship analysis
DC Matrix’s men won the first title of the season by the smallest deciding margin permitted at a 10-point finish. Alejandro “Alex” Arroyo and Iñigo Jofre Manzanares defeated Mario Huete Hernández and Alejandro “Alex” Ruiz 6–4, 4–6, [10–8]. The full score matters: Toronto won the middle set and arrived at the deciding match tiebreak with the match level. This was a competitive final whose winner had to finish a separate points contest, rather than a straight-set victory extended by an ordinary third set. Official source ↗
The opening 6–4 gave DC the first set. Toronto’s 6–4 response restored parity, leaving both pairs with ten games across the two regular sets. That arithmetic is useful context for the finish. A combined regular-game total did not decide the trophy; the match format demanded a winner in the deciding phase. The [10–8] score records 18 points in that phase and a two-point separation at the end. It supports describing the result as close without inventing a lead change, a saved match point or a specific winning shot. Official source ↗
The group-stage snapshot helps explain the contrast between the finalists before they met. DC completed two group wins without losing a set. The official table gives the Matrix 77% of group games and 63% of group points, alongside group seed one. Toronto also won both group matches, but its displayed shares were 67% of sets, 51% of games and 50% of points, with group seed three. These rounded group figures exclude the championship. They describe DC’s stronger margins in the qualifying program, then make the final’s even regular-game count particularly striking. Toronto’s second-set win brought the title contest level despite those earlier differences. The table also marks Houston as disqualified; the table does not explain the ruling behind that designation. DC received 25 event points and Toronto 19 in this snapshot, including their podium finishes. Official source ↗
For DC, the final converted a place in the championship fixture into a first-place finish. Toronto’s runner-up position belongs to the actual final pair on the scoreboard. The distinction matters because league match pages also show player carousels, and a carousel can include teammates beyond the two participants. The result here is attributed to Arroyo and Jofre for DC, and Huete and Ruiz for Toronto. It does not assign a final appearance to a player merely because that player is visible elsewhere on the page. Official source ↗
Analysis: the championship illustrates how little separation is required once the regular sets are split. DC and Toronto each won a 6–4 set, but the compressed decider created a new scoring race. That makes the final eight-point losing total relevant; Toronto remained within two points of DC’s finishing total. It does not establish whether service, return position or overhead selection supplied the advantage. Those tactical questions need reliable statistics or checked footage and are left outside this account. Official source ↗
The season opener therefore supplied an outcome and a benchmark rather than a forecast. DC won this event, Toronto finished second, and their exact pairs and score can be recovered from the official championship sheet. The source page’s zero-valued performance widgets are not treated as measurements of serves or return points. The match record is sufficient for the set progression and trophy result, while a detailed point sequence would require additional corroboration. Readers can move from this scoreboard to the group results below to see how both clubs reached the final without recasting the regular-season format as a knockout bracket. Official source ↗
Women’s final: San Diego turns a 1–6 start into a title
Championship analysis
San Diego’s women had to recover from the most lopsided opening set in either main championship match. Verónica Virseda and Claudia Jensen lost that set 1–6 to Noa Cánovas and Carolina Orsi of Florida, then won the second 6–3 and the deciding match tiebreak [10–7]. The trophy went to the pair that won the last two scoring phases. Florida’s strong start remained part of the result, but it did not translate into a completed straight-set win. Official source ↗
The first-set numbers are unambiguous: Florida won six games while San Diego won one. The second set altered the match’s direction, with Jensen and Virseda taking six games to Florida’s three. Across the regular sets, Florida still led nine games to seven. That aggregate did not override the one-set-all score. The match tiebreak existed to settle that tie, and San Diego’s ten points against seven delivered the championship. The record demonstrates a comeback in sets; it does not establish where an individual service break occurred. Official source ↗
Before the final, San Diego’s group record had looked substantially more comfortable than the championship’s opening set. The Stingrays won both group matches and every group set, with 76% of games and 62% of points in the published, rounded statistics. Florida also went 2–0 but won 80% of group sets, 59% of games and 55% of points. The table identifies San Diego as group seed one and Florida as seed two. Those statistics exclude the final, where Florida promptly took the opening set 6–1. The championship consequently tested San Diego in a way its clean group-set record had not. Jensen and Virseda answered that first lost set with the recovery that won the trophy. San Diego’s displayed event allocation was 25 points and Florida’s 19, with podium results included in points but excluded from the group performance percentages. Official source ↗
Analysis: San Diego’s result is a reminder to distinguish a game margin from a match outcome. A 1–6 set can create a substantial deficit in accumulated games, yet a pair can still recover by winning the next set and the decider. Jensen and Virseda did precisely that here. Calling their first title a recovery is grounded in the sequence of completed sets. Describing a tactical adjustment, a conversation between partners or a change in shot selection would go beyond the evidence used in this archive. Official source ↗
The final also identifies Florida’s participating pair. Cánovas and Orsi appear in the championship scoreboard, which is stronger appearance evidence than a season roster. The source page shows other Florida players in its wider profile presentation, but those names are not inserted into the final. This archive follows the match sheet for the two competitors on each side. For San Diego, the result belongs to Virseda and Jensen and establishes their New York championship before their later return together in Playa del Carmen. Official source ↗
The ending was decisive without being an eight-point rout: the [10–7] margin separated this women’s final from the [10–8] men’s final. Both still required a points decider after split sets. Nothing in those totals alone identifies match points saved or the last rally’s construction. The championship account therefore stays with the verified progression. Florida took the opening set, San Diego answered, and the Stingrays finished first. The individual fixture list and the separate third-place result complete the division picture, while PPL II remains an independent competition with its own winning teams. Official source ↗
Day by day
Day 1 · Group-stage report
New York’s opening night split the host franchise’s fortunes. The Atlantics beat San Diego in the men’s division but lost the women’s meeting. DC swept Las Vegas, giving the Matrix an early win in each division. All four main matches finished in straight sets. The closest opening-set score was DC’s 7–5 against Las Vegas in the women’s contest; DC then closed the second 6–1. A first victory mattered in a short group program, but the title-match field still depended on the remaining group results. Official source ↗
The scorelines put two very different host-city stories alongside each other. New York’s men conceded only two regular games to San Diego, while its women took only two games from the Stingrays. DC’s men also completed a comfortable numerical margin, winning twelve games against three. These are the recorded game totals, rather than assessments of individual shots. With two group matches per division in the official event table, an opening result represented half of each club’s qualifying program. The second appearance would therefore matter to every team introduced on Thursday. Official source ↗
In the men’s group stage, New York Atlantics’s Ignacio Vilarino and Javier Martinez defeated Maximiliano Sanchez and Jose David Sanchez Serrano of San Diego Stingrays, 6–2, 6–0. The winning pair completed the result in two regular sets, without a deciding match tiebreak. Official source ↗
In the men’s group stage, DC Matrix’s Alejandro "Alex" Arroyo and Valentino Libaak defeated Agustin Torre and Guillermo Jimenez Cagigas of Las Vegas Smash, 6–0, 6–3. The winning pair completed the result in two regular sets, without a deciding match tiebreak. Official source ↗
In the women’s group stage, San Diego Stingrays’s Veronica Virseda and Claudia Jensen defeated Marta Talavan and Sofia Saiz Vallejo of New York Atlantics, 6–1, 6–1. The winning pair completed the result in two regular sets, without a deciding match tiebreak. Official source ↗

Day 2 · Group-stage report
Friday widened the field. Toronto, Los Angeles, Mexico, Florida, Miami and Houston entered the main PPL match record, with men’s and women’s results counted separately. The two divisions could send the same franchise in different directions, so one club’s women winning did not mean its men had won their meeting. The chronological report follows those individual matches. This was group competition, with podium places still to be settled by the completed group results. Official source ↗
In the men’s group stage, Florida Goats’s Luis Hernandez Quesada and Alvaro Cepero Rodriguez defeated Jose Antonio Garcia Diestro and Alvaro Melendez Amaya of Miami Padel Club, 6–3, 6–4. The winning pair completed the result in two regular sets, without a deciding match tiebreak. Official source ↗
In the men’s group stage, Toronto Polar Bears’s Mario Huete Hernandez and Alejandro "Alex" Ruiz defeated Franco Dal Bianco and Maximiliano Arce of Mexico Waves, 7–6, 6–7, [10–8 match tiebreak]. In the women’s group stage, Florida Goats’s Noa Canovas and Carolina Orsi defeated Lucia Martinez Gomez and Anna Ortiz Gasco of Miami Padel Club, 6–1, 7–5. The winning pair completed the result in two regular sets, without a deciding match tiebreak. Official source ↗

Day 4 · Podium Sunday
The opener ended with two split-set championship contests and two straight-set third-place outcomes. DC had to answer Toronto’s second-set response, while San Diego had to reverse a difficult opening set against Florida. New York’s men gave the home franchise a podium finish and Los Angeles’ women completed a clear third-place victory. Official scheduled-date fields for the bronze matches disagree with the event calendar; the scoreboards and actual-start data identify the results, while the date discrepancy is disclosed in this archive. Official source ↗
The third-place matches supplied their own contrast. New York’s men had to take a regular-set tiebreak in the opener before completing the second set 6–4 against Mexico. Los Angeles’ women needed twelve regular games to Toronto’s four across their bronze victory. Neither contest required the points decider that settled both championships. The losing bronze clubs, Mexico’s men and Toronto’s women, finished fourth in their divisions. The standings snapshot preserves those finish positions separately from the earlier group seeds and win-loss records. Official source ↗
In the men’s championship, DC Matrix’s Alejandro "Alex" Arroyo and Inigo Jofre Manzanares defeated Mario Huete Hernandez and Alejandro "Alex" Ruiz of Toronto Polar Bears, 6–4, 4–6, [10–8 match tiebreak]. PPL II: separate competition
New York’s Jaime Fermosell and José Carlos Gaspar Campos beat San Diego’s Ivo Alem Andenmatten and Daniel Diaz 6–4, 6–1 for the PPL II men’s title. Miami’s Brittany Dubins and Marta Morga beat Toronto’s Carla Rodriguez Sanchez and Jordana Lujan 7–5, 6–0 for the women’s title. These development results do not replace the main PPL champions. Standout performances and season context
New York was the opening main PPL event of 2026. Hammerstein Ballroom hosted a competition involving all ten franchises. DC and San Diego supplied the division champions, while the regular season continued toward Los Angeles, Playa del Carmen and Guadalajara before the Miami Finals. A travelling event’s host city does not determine which club wins its title. Official source ↗
The two main finals required match tiebreaks. Neither third-place contest did: the Atlantics beat Mexico 7–6, 6–4, while Los Angeles beat Toronto 6–3, 6–1. The losing club in each third-place match finishes fourth. Official source 1 ↗ Official source 2 ↗
